County Treasurer, County Auditor, Clerk of the Board of Supervisors and Clerk
The Chancery Court Office is responsible for filing civil court matters such as: divorces, estates, conservatorships, guardianships, Department of Human Services’ cases, child support cases, child custody cases, name changes, birth certificate corrections, removals of minority, land disputes, adoptions, mental health commitments, alcohol and drug commitments, etc.
The office of the Chancery Court is further responsible for the filing and recording of deeds, mortgage records, lis pendens notices, construction liens, powers of attorney, federal tax liens and DD214’s.
The Chancery Court office personnel is also responsible for notifying and collecting prior year’s property taxes and acting as acceptance agent for passports and performing notary duties.
Coahoma County Chancery Court has three full time judges; Catherine Farris-Carter, Jon Barnwell, and W. M. Sanders who hears and makes decision on these cases.
